Arnie terminates Bump Keys
Former body-builder and film actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, most famous in his role as the Terminator, and who is now the State Governor of California, has signed legislation to outlaw the sale of bump keys and other specialist keys to the public.
“This action highlights just how widespread the problem of lock bumping is,” says David Jennings, Managing Director of UAP. “And because of Mr Schwarzenegger’s fame, this adds considerable weight to our own efforts to outlaw the sale in this country of lock-picking equipment to anyone but a certified locksmith.”
UAP, through its Pickbuster subsidiary, has introduced its own Ban the Bump Key campaign and intends to present a petition to Downing Street asking it to act.
Pickbuster is a simple ‘pour in’ remedy against lock bumping that became the catalyst for the security industry to finally introduce bump-proof lock cylinders. Pickbuster saves the cost of existing locks having to be replaced by new ones.
“We appreciate that if legislation is enabled to outlaw the sale of bump keys then Pickbuster loses much of its market, but profits are not the point here. What is the point, is people losing their possessions and not only suffering the violation of unlawful entry into their homes, but the added insult when their insurers decline to cover any losses due to their being no visible signs of a break-in.”
It is understood that an Arnold Schwarzenegger look-alike has been hired to join TV actor Sean Wilson who is fronting the Ban the Bump Key campaign launched on the 25th September.
