Sunfold is the UK’s foremost producer of bespoke quality folding sliding doors and as part of its ongoing research and development programme, was looking for a number of benefits it could offer customers for the glass used in its door construction. To begin with the company wanted a better easy-clean coating on the glass. A special chemical used in their unique manufacturing process was not compatible with most glass coatings. Reflex developed a solar control glass with a special scratch-resistant easy-clean coating which overcame the problem caused by the inferior coating of the other glass. Other benefits were being sought too.
BETTER U VALUE AND SOLAR CONTROL
Sunfold’s Sales Manager Emma Key told us, “We wanted an improvement in the ‘U-value’ to aid with home and office heat conservation, and we were also looking for a material that would prevent solar UV light from fading our clients’ furniture and fabrics. The special glass from Reflex met our exacting requirements and we also now have the option to offer doors with a clear or blue tinted glass.”
FURTHER UNIQUE BENEFITS
Reflex solar control glass also reflects up to 92% of the infra-red solar heat. This results in a cooler, more comfortable room temperature during summer but a special invisible reflective coating helps keep in heat during the winter. In addition, warm edge spacer-bar technology combined with argon gas filling eliminates all condensation from the surfaces and blocks out external noise more than conventional double glazed windows.
