A DECADE LONG AFFORDABLE PARTNERSHIP
Affordable Windows and Conservatory Group, manufacturer of PVC-u windows, doors and conservatories, has reached its tenth year in partnership with leading profile supplier, Kömmerling.
Established in 1993 by Managing Director, Eddie Gaughan, the Lancashire-based fabricator joined forces with Lichfield-based Kömmerling in the autumn of 1998 and has since grown significantly to become a major national supplier of products for the PVC-u window trade market.
Eddie comments, “We are delighted to reach a decade of partnership with Kömmerling. In the early days of the company we set a target of building ourselves up to become a national fabricator, so we had to make sure we used suppliers and products that matched our ambition. Kömmerling is extremely reliable and the Connoisseur system has proved to be a high quality product.”
“During the ten years we have seen our volume, profitability and reputation steadily increase, to the extent that our turnover has risen by 500%, whilst our Group turnover last year was over £20 million. And all this has been achieved without the use of field salesmen.”
Affordable specialises in supplying the PVC-u window trade market, choosing not to work on projects with housing associations or new-build schemes, as Eddie goes on to explain: “Focusing on the trade market allows us to provide a consistent level of service and quality. The demand levels are not consistent enough in other areas to justify working on such projects, with fabricators often under pressure to work within a limited timeframe. Focusing your efforts in these areas can also mean neglecting trade customers.”
Affordable use the Kömmerling Connoisseur system for its products, with its unique “ovolo” profile designed to enhance any home, offering a unique combination of classic appearance and state-of-the-art performance. The curved, slimline frames create a much “softer” look whilst offering the unrivalled benefits associated with PVC-u frames, such as steel reinforced profiles, internal beading and multi-point locking and shoot bolts. The Connoisseur range is also available in black and cream wood grain foil as standard.

Affordable currently employs approximately 160 staff who operate from three sites in the Blackpool area. Its extensive fleet of delivery vehicles, which include 20 vans and four 45ft trailers, allows the firm to supply throughout the UK, even to more challenging destinations such as Jersey and the Isle of Man. As well as PVC-u windows, Affordable also supplies doors, roofs and an array of glass, timber and aluminium products.
