INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP IN 3D
When it came to the development of heat reflective door skin technology, 3D Laminates worked with European partners Röchling and Hornschuch and the result was CoolSkin, which is now used by over 75% of the leading door panel companies in the UK.
For the last 20 years the PVCu window, door and conservatory industry has suffered from a number of failures in laminated products, most notably in door panels where the large woodgrain surface area suffers from excessive heat build up. Over the last few years 3D has been using their considerable expertise in polymer engineering, along with those of their partners to develop the next generation in laminated sheet products, for applications such as door panels.
The exclusive relationship with Konrad Hornschurch AG goes back 4 years and the company manufactures and supplies a wide range of 300 micron thick CoolColour foils which reflect heat 4 times better than equivalent standard lamination foils. There’s also a vast array of woodgrain and coloured options matching nearly every UK window and door system profile.
The relationship with Röchling is relatively new, but no less important. They have developed a modified PVC sheet substrate in both tan and brown to withstand extremes in temperature for the European market. This PVC sheet substrate has been designed to work in perfect harmony with the Hornschuch CoolColour foil and the finished product has been successfully branded as CoolSkin. Leading customers such as GAP, Vista Panels, Plasway, Nice Door Panels and Door Panels plc have been delighted with the zero defect performance.
Mark Lofthouse, managing director of 3D commented: “We’ve now got an exclusive agreement with both Röchling and Hornschuch for this technology. Customers that use our CoolSkin product know that door panel failures are really a thing of the past and this is something that we believe will give the industry greater confidence in the door panel market.”
He continues: “Our advice for installers is to ask for a door panel with CoolSkin technology by name and remove the risk of failure.” For further information contact 3D Laminates on 01535 603007 or e-mail info@3d-laminates.com
