Innovation drives expansion and growth for Phoenix Door Panels

Product innovation is driving expansion for Phoenix Door Panels, one of the UK’s fastest-growing door manufacturers, which has opened two new composite door manufacturing sites close to its Cambridgeshire headquarters.

Rising sales of its composite door range - the County Collection – and the launch of a dedicated Eurocell black foiled frame prompted the need for additional separate production facilities totalling 12,500 sq ft. One unit will house door production, with administration and storage capacity in the other.

Over the last eight months, the company has also invested significantly in new CNC machinery, welders and saws to maintain optimum production efficiencies and reliable delivery schedules.

Investment coincides with a period of sustained growth for privately-owned Phoenix, despite the difficult economic times. Its annual turnover for 09/10 is expected to be up nearly 40% this financial year compared with the previous year.

“Our success with product innovation and providing a flexible service geared to customer requirements have totally driven this latest expansion,” explains National Sales Manager, Haydon Statham. “Offering a black door with a black frame is something not many companies can supply - although there is quite a demand.”

Since launching its composite door range in January 2009, Phoenix regularly now produces more than 150 composite doors per week in addition to its core PVC-U panels business.

All composite doors in the Phoenix range feature through-colour GRP skins guaranteed for ten years. Available in seven colours, including three foiled finishes, they are supplied in a choice of 70mm outerframes plus aluminium or PVC-U thresholds.

“Sales are continuing to exceed all expectations, and with more customers, we needed more space to meet demand for our growing product range,” continues Haydon. “Our continued growth during the tough economic climate reflects our success and the strength of the replacement door market.

“Our reputation for delivering a good product on time at the right price is attracting new customers all the time, making us one of the largest composite door manufacturers in the UK domestic replacement market. No mean achievement in a recession!” he adds.
