Capital machinery!

David and Roger Franklin Ltd, the aluminium machinery specialists, were recently called upon by Uxbridge-based fabricator Capital Windows Manufacturing Ltd to supply and commission a double mitre saw that could improve the accuracy and quality of their cutting and make their production processes more efficient.

Capital initially approached David and Roger Franklin having been very impressed by a machine the Franklins had supplied to another fabricator. They hoped David and Roger Franklin’s expertise could help them fulfil their need for a new saw.

As you would expect from something requiring a major investment, Capital needed their new double mitre saw to meet a number of exacting requirements. As well as simply improving the quality and accuracy of cutting, the new machine needed to have the ability to cut combination angles for sloping windows and the facility to allow accurate double cutting of aluminium profiles.

In order to make the most of improved production efficiencies, it would also need to fit seamlessly into their existing production line. To that end, it needed to integrate with their office software, ‘Sapa Logic’ and ‘Business Micros Winstar’, and print a 15 digit barcode label for use with their existing Elumatec SBZ122 Machining centre.

Capital hadn’t underestimated David and Roger Franklin’s abilities. The company recommended the Comall MACH 500 Theta D 3-axis double mitre saw and, once their recommendation had been accepted, oversaw the commissioning and installation. As predicted, the saw has met with Capital’s full approval. Peter Adams, Technical Manager at Capital said, “This was a complex brief and the Franklins took on the challenge to meet our criteria. They worked with us every step of the way so the process was seamless with no interruption to our day to day manufacturing. We are delighted with the results not only in terms of the improved quality, but it has also increased our fabrication turnaround.”

David and Roger Franklin pride themselves on their ability to commission the right machinery to improve production processes in any setting. They’ve just proved that expertise at Capital Windows.
