GAP opens order phone lines until 8pm
Leading home improvement stockist GAP has invested £60,000 in a new telephone system so installers can place telephone orders until 8pm. The service is the equivalent of each depot being open an extra 2 and a half hours each day, and is part of GAP’s commitment to offering customers that little bit extra. GAP is proud to be the first in the industry to take this step, and is further proof of its commitment to going that extra mile in its support of its customer in tough times.
Currently GAP depots close at 5.30pm. After this time, customers must wait until the following morning to place a telephone order. The new telephone system links all of GAP’s depots via an internal telephone system. The depots will close at 5.30pm as usual, and after this time, external lines will be diverted to head office allowing installers to place orders, and still get next day delivery. The order will then be sent across to the customers’ local depot so it is ready for them to collect the following day, or to be dispatched to site.
Online account holders can continue to place orders online via www.gap.uk.com up to 11pm and still have next day delivery. This facility was first pioneered by GAP early in 2007 and has proved very successful to date.
Joint Managing Director Simon Bird says: “This system allows us to improve communication and offer customers an even better service. Many installers are busy on site during the day. Giving them the opportunity to place orders until 8pm means they can order at a time which suits them. We still offer online ordering 24 -7, however this is just one extra service we are pleased to now offer as standard.”
The new telephone service goes live on the 3 November 2008.
