Phill Warburton and Lee Rimmer, Joint Managing Directors of Bootle based REHAU bi-fold door specialists Specialist Frame PVC-U Ltd, have set themselves quite a challenge to raise money for the Stick ‘n’ Step children’s charity on Merseyside.

Keen cyclists, they have previously completed a charity bike ride from Liverpool to Chester. However, this time they are setting their sights much higher and are planning to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) in just 8 days with no support crew.

The cameras have been at Saint-Gobain Glass’ Eggborough float plant once again, filming a new children’s science programme for 5 to 7 year olds called ‘Curious Cats Science’. One of four programmes - featuring wool, paper, glass and steel - the series has been commissioned by BBC Learning to be used as part of the national curriculum and has been broadcast on BBC2 in the New Year. It continues to be broadcast on BBC iPlayer.

Synseal’s K2 production facility has received a substantial investment within days of it becoming a part of Synseal Extrusions Ltd, confirming intentions for continued growth.  David Leng, Synseal Chief Executive, has announced the creation of a profile bending facility within K2’s Blackburn manufacturing site to enable the production of arched top and other curved window styles. This will speed up the production of Synseal arched top vertical sliders and will bend profile for fabricators of both Synseal and other profiles.

Birmingham based commercial installer RAD Windows is celebrating after six members of staff successfully completed NVQ training programmes. Six of the installation team at RAD have now achieved NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Fenestration and Installation and Fenestration and Surveying and their success has prompted RAD to arrange similar training for four other members of the team.
